Here at B-Side we’re going to be trying something new: getting YOU involved.  We’re calling it the Theme Radio Challenge.  First B-Side listeners will pick a theme they’d like to hear the show explore.  Then comes the challenge.  Members of the B-Side Crew, sound artists, radio producers, writers, journalism students, and listeners are all encouraged to submit their own stories on that theme.  Those stories will be posted here on bsideradio.org, where users can vote on their favorites.  All of the stories will also be packaged into a series of B-Side Radio podcasts, so all of our regular listeners will hear them.  Then a panel of judges, guided by the votes of listeners, will pick the top pieces.  Those pieces will go through the usual rigorous (and fun, and educational) editing process and will then become a part of a B-Side Radio radio show, which will be heard on public radio stations around the country.

There will also be prizes, for entering and for the winners.

We still have a lot of details to work out.  The first challenge will launch in January.  But in the meantime, please vote on the theme you’d like to hear.
